I need a good simple site search function on my site. I tried the FP one but
it won't let me select the pages to be searched (or not searched). I just
got Lurch Search and installed it but can't seem to FIND it anywhere. (It's
not showing up in FP menus anywhere) Help!

If you want to use the FP search and are not hosted on a Windows IIS server, just move the file that
you don't want search into a folder that beginning with a underscore character and do not use the
_private folder.

I sent them an email about 3 days ago - no reply yet. They seem low profile.
When I search the web about this software I don't get much. I'm guessing
that most people use something else. ??

Hi Tom,
I'm on IIS and I can't (rename/move) all the pages involved. Some of the
pages comming up in the search are pages from the hosts traffic management
software. Renaming their folders is not my first choice.
Lurch looked like a good bet. It allowed you to include/exclude pages. Menu
driven. And it built normal access databases. Dream come true except I can't
Find it after installing. I also have the "Frontlook site search engine" but
I can't tell where it's storing the data so I'd rather use Lurch. Is there a
better program? All I want to do is be able to limit the pages searched
without moving or renaming anything.

The host needs to either exclude those pages or move them to a FP subweb / subsite. At some point
even if you solve the search issue (by using 3rd party), you will have publishing problems when FP
check/compare the content with your local copy.

If it is a FP addin and you have installed it, check if it is enabled under Tools Addins
- also make sure your server meets the requirements of Lurch Search shown at
http://accessfp.net/ltmod.htm
