Site Blocked messages

I, like everybody else, am fighting the never-ending pop-ups & spyware
problems. Lately, in IE, I've been seeing alot of "Site Blocked - Microsoft
Internet Explorer" boxes at the bottom of the screen, while IE is simply
running. I'm not necessarily surfing the net at all. What gives? I have a
"few" specific websites blocked in Internet Options, I use Norton Internet
Security, Webroot Spy Sweeper & also have the Google Toolbar.

I'm also seeing these "Product Research Panel" pop-up ads, ever since
downloading Earthlink Total Access - which I quickly uninstalled, but still
can't block these drasted ads!

Advice welcome!!

Hi Annemarie :)

You have a hijacker, malware, spyware or parasites on your system that can
cause this problem. There are some types of adware and malware that
override Popup blockers, as you can see. In addition to running your
updated anti-virus program, you should do the following to remove these from
your system. Follow all instructions carefully:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30, to allow the experts there to
evaluate your log and advise you of the necessary steps to clean your
system.

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Also, get a copy of WINSOCKFIX available at:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
and
WinsockXP Fix- WinXP http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
Also, with instructions, at http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm
also
From LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-
http://digital-solutions.co.uk/lavasoft/whndnfix.zip

and......

AdAware SE
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
Update immediately after installing before using.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

I've been getting these popups, too. "Product Research Panel." Have
run all major spyware programs (AdAware, NO-Adware, Hijack This) and
my machine comes out clean. No unusual programs executing when I
check task viewer. I'm usually pretty good at finding this sort of
stuff, but this one has me stumped. Where is it coming from? My
daughter visits all kind of sites during the nite and malware, spyware
just loads up because she does not know what she is doing. But this
particular "popup ware" is not registering on most of the tools you
can purchase to ferret these things out. Anyone else seen this one?
