single space

The height of the detail section is .2917 and it will not change to smaller.
What should it be?

I really don't know what else to check, in case you can't tell I'm pretty
new to access LOL.

Yes my data is in the detail section. I formed the report in Report Wizard
using the tabular layout. the data is names, address, etc of church members.
I need to reduce the space between the lines of data. It has a double space
look and I would like it to be single space to save on paper. I've tried the
horizontal spacing under format but it is not highlight so I can't select it.
Any suggestions?

Tina,

One of those controls must be gwoing causing that double space effect. To
find it, outline the control in red, open the report and see which one is
*growing*. Once you have indetified which one it is you can either set it
Can Grow = No OR lengthen the control so it no longer grows.

Gina,
thanks so much for your help I checked and none of the controls are set to
grow.

Do you have a line printing under each row in the details section? If so try
getting the line control and moving it up. It might be hard to see if it is
butted up against a section control divider.

Gina suggested you outline the control in red. Did you try this or not? If
you display the borders of all controls you should be able to tell if one or
more of them is causing the detail section to grow.

If none of the controls seem to extend to the row below, then see if you can
grab the bottom of the section and pull it upward. Typically a one line
detail section with 8 point font should be about 0.1667".

I've tried everything you all have suggested and still can't get the spacing
any closer. Maybe that's just gonna have to do. Thanks for all your help and
if you any other ideals I'd love to hear them

Tina,

Does the database have sensitive data in it? I would happy to take a look
as there is *something* in that detail section causing it not to shrink and
hold it's size. If you can send it to me please go to my web page to get my
eMail address.

What did you see when you tried display all of the control borders in the
detail section? What happens when you view the detail section properties and
try set the height to .16666?

when I displayed all the borders they were even and didn't cause the
spacing. When I changed the height to .16666 I couldn't tell any change, it I
try smaller than that not all the word prints.

In a page set up of 1" margins all around, leaving the header and footer in
place and using a Times New Roman 9 it prints 26 line of data in the tabular
layout portrait orientation.

If you can't change the height of your detail section then some control in
the detail section is "in the way". You need to find this control and either
move or remove it.
