In General Tab of Folder Option the single click to open an item may be
configured.
I lost this possibility all of a sudden , together with the underline
choice.
I can only use the double click/
is someone know what happened?

Hi

This is what I got from CloudEight Stationary:-

Single Click - Does The Trick
Windows XP Home and Professional
Windows XP, by default, requires double-clicking to open
programs, documents, and short-cuts. If you're like us you want
to make your system respond as quickly as possible and
double-clicking everything you want to open isn't the fastest way
to do it. You can easily configure Windows XP to open programs,
documents, shortcuts, etc. by doing the following:

1. Double Left-Click on "My Computer"
2. Click on Tools (on the toolbar)
3. Click "Folder Options"

On the main dialog, tick: "Single click to open an item (point to
select)"

Then, chose one of the two options - whichever you prefer:

1. Underline icon titles consistent with my browser
or
2. Underline icon titles only when I point at them

Then click "Apply" "OK" and you're on your way to saving clicks
and saving clicks saves your wrist and saves you time!

In General Tab of Folder Option the single click to open an item
may be
configured.
I lost this possibility all of a sudden , together with the
underline
choice.
I can only use the double click/
is someone know what happened?

The Value of classicShell at the registry was o.k.
and in the Group Policy Editor, under the Widows component
there is only window Media Player. No Windows Explorer.
Is there anything else I can Try?

On both keys bellow set ClassicShell to 0. Restart for the changes to take
effect. The "Single click" folder option should now be restored.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Policies \ Explorer

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Policies \ Explorer

If the key and dword value are not there, you can make the key in the right
side pane. Right click in pane>select new>DWORD Value>rename it ClassicShell.
After key is made double click on it and from the popup enter an the Value
Data of 0 (hexadecimal). Do this for both Hkey locations previously
mentioned. Exit out of regedit and reboot.

If still it does not work right try changing the value to 1 on both keys,
reboot check the option (it should grayed out), then change value back to 0
on both. Reboot
