Since Installing ActiveSync, Outlook Crashes When Saving Notes

Paul Anderson

Since installing ActiveSync for my Orange SPV M2000, I'm finding that
Outlook often crashes, logging the following error when I try to save a
note:

"Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 11
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 13/06/2005
Time: 15:40:36
User: N/A
Computer: B22-GX260
Description:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353.0, stamp 408f2937,
faulting module outllib.dll, version 11.0.6359.0, stamp 40c8adfd, debug? 0,
fault address 0x0002703e.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

I get the usual 'application has performed an illegal operation and has to
be restarted' message and the note (and any other unsaved Outlook data) are
gone when the application is restarted. This is intermittent, but still
frequent enough to make notes unusable.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and come up with a fix or
workaround ? I've tried running the Office Detect & Repair tool and blown
out and completely recreated my user profile, to no avail. I've also
removed my ActiveSync partnership and hard-reset the smartphone, then
reconfigured it and synced again. I can find nothing on Google or
Microsoft.com. Everything was fine before installing ActiveSync.

Details are as follows:

O/S: Windows XP SP2
Office: Office Professional 2003 SP1 with up to date patches
ActiveSync: 3.8
Exchange Sync: Calendar, Contacts & Inbox
Desktop Sync: Notes, Tasks, Files, Favourites
User Permissions: Administrative

Thanks.
