Simple Share is no problem but...

When I set one particular PC on network to Simple Share then access from
another PC's on the network is as it should be to any shared folder with no
problem.
If I set the same PC to Advanced Share the other PC's on network are asking
for user name and password to access this PC even before they show any
shares available. If I try to do a properties on this PC I get "you do not
have the appropriate access rights for this server".

I do not understand this

When you disable simple file sharing, XP Pro looks at the name of the
user who requests access to one of its shares from another computer on
the network.

If it recognizes the user name (because the same user name and
password exist on both computers), it grants access, and there's no
prompt.

If it doesn't recognize the user name, it prompts for more
information.

If the other computer runs Windows 95/98/Me, there's no correct reply
to the prompt. The only solution is to have matching user accounts
(same user name and password) on both computers.

If the other computer runs Windows XP, you can reply to the prompt
with a user name and password that exist on the XP Pro computer.

Steve,
I have the opposite problem, I have a wireless small home network, windowsXP
Pro on all, when I open into the computer with my shared folders from
another pc, it does so without asking for a username/password. When I try to
open my shared folder with strict permissions, I can't because the user
names do not match. How can I force XP to ask for a user name?
Best wishes.
