simple file sharing problem

Hi, we have about 150 new workstations running Windows
XP. This is a new operating system in our environment. We
previously had a mix of Win 98 / NT / 2000. We are having
a problem with the simple file sharing feature. When we
set up the computers, we set them up as administrator and
then copied the Administrator profile to default user
before creating the user accounts. During setup we went
to the folder options and unchecked "Use simple file
sharing." After creating the users (they are all created
as Power Users), we log in as the new user and go to the
folder options to check the settings, and "Use simple
file sharing" is checked.

The sharing and security tabs are present in the file /
folder properties, so I know at least some parts of the
simple file sharing is not enabled, but we are still
getting some signs that it is enabled. For one thing,
opening files often generates the message that the file
is read only, and users can't save the file after making
changes to it unless they save it as a different name.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Please help if you
have any ideas. Thanks.
