Hey there!

Im currently looking for a silent or quiet dvd-rom drive to use instead of my noisy dvd-rw.

Currently ive searched on overclockers... and have found the "Sony DDU-1615" ive read some reviews and have had some conflicting thoughts regarding the noise.

Anyone have this drive? Or can reccommend anything....?

Thanks!

What noise?

I think you'll find all drives have 'noise' somewhere. :)

OH, and I would personally not use Sony if you gave me anything they produce ... they are on my blacklist. ;)

The Pioneer slot loading drives were quiet but I'm not sure if they're still manufactured.

Other than that, consider Plextor drives, you may have to search to find out how noisy they are but they're probably the best quality drives out there.

And yes, some drives are noisier than others, but it's not the sort of thing that usually gets reviewed.

And I wouldn't touch anything Sony with a barge pole.

I got a Plextor PX-740A, and its nice and quiet. :)

Dont get the Sony....
