Silent data loss on paste into Excel 2003

Excel 2003 has problems copying text off of the clipboard
if the text has unmatched quotes. For example, highlight
the following text and try to paste it into Excel:

ID Notes
1 "You've got to hide your love away"
2 "You've lost that lovin' feeling"
3 "Until I kissed you
4 "Boris the Spider"

This fails silently, leading to erroneous data errors.
Please help. A temporary workaround would be nice!

DAve
Text to Columns does it. Paste the data in then select it.
Choose, Data, Text to Columns, Delimited, and click the
Space checkbox.

This should split it into columns for you. It is very
versatile and you choose to ignore some columns if you
like.

Peter
