signing in as an existing user?

I have an account on a Windows XP Pro machine. I want to log into this
account remotely using Remote desktop. I have added the account to the remote
desktop users list. Unfortunately when I try to log in I am given an error to
do with permissions?
I have succesfully connected to an account I set on the computer. But the
main account i want to access seems unavailable. This account does not have a
password by the way, not sure i f that is significant.

That is significant. A remote desktop account MUST have a password.

Solved on your own - give it a password.
