Significance of =+ in formulas

Yes RagDyer. I am here in America. This is the same button I use to begin my
formulas with +, by holding shift and striking the key you name.

All right!
I'll bite!

What exactly is a "one finger = sign" if what I just described *isn't*?

Well, aside from the somewhat scatalogical interpretation, the OP wanted
to be able to use one hand on the numeric keypad to enter formulae. On
many less fortunate keyboards, there's no = sign on the keypad, so some
users use the + sign to start a formula (and, I suppose, only use
references to columns A-G).

You made me look for my dictionary John!

Are you saying that you could equate the majority of this thread to the
study of what dinosaurs left behind that became petrified?
And I don't mean their bones.

Anyway, RIGHT hand for the num pad, by touch, without looking.
RIGHT hand for the = sign, with just a quick glance!

Actually the OP just wanted to know if having the + in there had any effect.
I think he is working on someone elses spreadsheet, and that person either
1) used the 10 key pad and wanted to press the + since there is a + key
right there, and not (on US keyboards anyways) an = key in the vicinity.
2) learnt to enter formulas in Lotus, where a + is used instead of =.

Not sure which one..

Now that we are way off topic....
Frank, do you have an add-on numeric keyboard for your laptop. I find mine
quite useful but it cannot be used to enter (for example) the Plus/minus
sign with ALT+0177 . Does this mean it is not sending the same data to the
CPU as a real number pad?
Are we still allowed to call them laptops? The manual for mine warms me not
to use it on my lap!

I've heard it can be quite satisfying.

Why Bernard? I find it very warming.
