Signature grayed out in Options Mail Format

Have compared laptop registry items to desktop registry items and they match,
so why is Signature options completely grayed out. Using Outlook 2003, did
this with SP2, have not upgraded to SP3, as recommended by techs. What
registry function do I change to un gray the signature? Do I have to reclone
my whole system to undo this annoying problem? On yes any updates in my
system will not happen as says system will not take it. Am not using IE
FireWall am using Charter.com firewall.

Ignore this message, found when I removed some items in the registry, under
common files, that were not liated on laptop computer. It now works.
