Sidewinder force feedback on XP

Adrian

Hi!
I own a sidewinder force feedback joystick and it works ok
with windows 98.
When installing windows xp on the same computer, the
joystick works but without force feedback at all.
Anyone has an idea what to do?
Thanks in advance.
Adrian.

Without knowing your specific hardware I am guessing you are hitting a
gameport/MIDI communication issue. The way the gameport force feedback
devices work is the joystick axis and button data comes into the computer on
the gamport. The force feedback data goes back into the device through the
MIDI plug (same physical plug). Some sound cards gameport/MIDI plugs get
starved on higher end machines, typically 1Ghz and higher but I have seen it
on as low as 600Mhz. Do you have a way of testing with a different sound
card?

I don't know what happened what the force feedback started
to work.
Thanks for your help.
