Sideways scrolling

I have a new mouse for my notebook PC which supports sideways (horizontal)
scrolling. But it didn't come with a driver. Does XP natively support
sideways scrolling - or do I need software?

You'll probably need both the drivers AND the software to install so that
the mouse control panel applet can be changed to reflect the new lateral
scrolling ability.

Most likely, yes. One new thing I've noticed lately is some sellers of
mice, instead of supplying the drivers with it, have notes in their
packaging about going to a web site to download the drivers and other
software needed. IMO that stinks, but I can see why they do it; it's
cheaper.
So, you might check the package it came in?

Fished the small leaflet out of the garbage and you're right - I have to
download the driver. Thanks for advice.
