The Sidebar pictures I get I much better than anything available as a
Desktop background. Is there anyway one could transfer a picture from the
Sidebar and install it as a Desktop background?

Those pictures on the sidebar(slideshow) are on your HD..........right click
an empty spot on the desktop..then personalize....then desktop background
use the browse button to find the pictures that are displaying in
slideshow.......

The pictures that display in the SlideShow gadget on the Sidebar are
contained in 2 folders that are already on your system. If hover the cursor
over the SlideShow gadget and click the small 'wrench' icon, you will see 2
options under Folder. Here is the path to those pictures.

C:\Users\username\Pictures
C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures

Right click the Desktop and select Personalize/Desktop Background. Click the
Browse Button and navigate to either one of these folders.
