sidebar gagets

I'm getting a new Vista Home Premium notebook and wanted to know the
best sidebar gadgets. I am using Yahoo widgets on my XP desktop, but
will use the sidebar gadgets for Vista. I know it comes with weather,
clock, calendar, but want to know what you would suggetst as better
ones. I would like a digital clock that had the date too.month day,
year...also wondered about the Weather Channel's gadget and if anyone
uses it as well..also would like to know what everyone's favorites are
for all gadgets.

Jeez, Why is everybody hammering this guy? He simply asked a question,
trying to drum up a conversation. I thought that was the point of such
newsgroups.

"Google it" could be the answer to every question asked here. So maybe we
can just assign one person to answer "google it" to every post and the rest
of us can spend our time elsewhere.

Anyway, to the OP: I used the analog clock, even though it's redundant; a
calendar; a CPU/memory usage indicator; and a thing that shows the moon in
its current phase. Dunno why I chose the last one, but I did.

Hope you enjoy Vista and the gadgets and that you come back to this
newsgroup to tell us of your experience and/or ask other questions. Some
people may have answers beyond just "google it."

It wasnt just you. Someone else asked why he should even ask that question,
each person should judge for himself, etc etc etc.
Your answer by itself is probably fine, but in the context of the thread, it
just seemed like people were jumping on this guy for no apparent reason.
With all the stupid FYI, patzke, putzske, linux posts, this particular
original post seemed like something we should welcome instead of trying to
strike down.
Sorry if I misinterpreted your intent.

You probably mean me.

I was neither "hammering" nor attempting to strike down anyone. I
simply pointed out that my opinions or anyone else's shouldn't matter
to him any more than whether I prefer lobster to steak or vice versa
should matter to him. Telling him my favorites wouldn't be helpful,
and I tried to explain why.

Well, I hope this is an OK question. I am still trying to work with Vista
after having to get a new laptop. I have that Google thing on the side of
the desktop. I really don't want it there, and now it is covering my entire
desktop with what looks like a fog, no better way to explain it. Would even
be happy if it was just back on the right hand side. I did manage to get rid
of the pictures that kept changing....any advice? Thanks

Try right-clicking the Sidebar icon in the Notification area of your
Taskbar. Choose Properties. Then click on the View List of Running Gadgets
button. Highlight the gadget you want to remove, and then click on the
Remove button.
