Sidebar background controls

To the right of the PLUS symbol (open gadgets) in the very top right corner
of the sidebar there is a left arrow & a right arrow. I think they are
supposed to cycle through backgrounds but on mine they are greyed out and do
nothing. I have yet to see any mention of these controls in any help file or
discussion. Are there different sidebar backgrounds and if so, how do I
access them? Right now, my background is opaque.

They cycle through multiple sidebars once you add too many gadgets to be
displayed on one .
Just add lots of gadgets an see what happens.

Thanks so much Mike. At least now I know what they are for. I'm still
wondering about changing the background style/color? I saw one post that said
it can't be changed but I have seen different looking side bar backgrounds on
the net. I have a feeling the aero theme is more trouble than it's worth.

I don't think you can change the background color. However, when I set my
systems to support Aero then the background changes from opaque to
translucent.

Yes, thanks for the info. You are right, it did change to translucent. Ok
then, I guess I'll just leave well enough alone. It seems all too easy to
mess up something in Vista. I've had to use system restore several times now
to "fix" some component that's suffered from some seemingly simple piece of
software. The good news is that system restore works VERY well.
