Shutting Down

When I shutdown, or log off, I get the
message "winnet.exe - DLL Initialisation failed".
Then underneath the end program box appears
saying "wupdater.exe" has failed to shut down. As a
relative newcomer can anyone help?

This possibly could be some effect of spyware.
