shutting down office 2000

I'm working with two operating systems on my laptop 2000 &
98. I intalled 2000 but it didnt take off 98 so when i
start my laptop it asks which operating system i would
like to use. My problem is when i open 98 and shutdown it
allows me but when i open 2000 and try to shut down the
screen comes up and says you can safely shutdown but i
cant turn off the laptop.
 
You did check with yr Laptop manu.site that there were Win2K drivers
available, prior to yr install?
