Shutting down computer

Guest

Here's my problem . . . when I try to shut down my
computer, I proceed to log off. My screen goes thru all
the motions. The screen goes black, the pc is doing its
thing, and just when you think it is going to turn off,
the screen comes back on and the pc kicks back up again.
I manually have to hold my finger on the button on my pc
to turn it off. Can someone tell me why this is happening
and what can I do to correct this.

Many thanks.
