Shutdown

Hi

I posted as message about this problem before and I was told to disable
'automatic restart'. Doing this should prompt me with the blue screen of
death if there is a problem when shutting down. I have done it but I do not
get the blue screen of death. After a while my computer makes a sound as if
it has shut down but it is still running but with no screen. I then push the
power button on the front and it turns off. But every time I need to press
the power button to turn it off.

I need to see a blue screen of death so I can solve my problem off it just
wont shut down.

Can anyone help?

Luke

Hi,

A blue screen only occurs when the system crashes and cannot recover. It
doesn't sound like that is happening. Check the event viewer for clues as to
what is happening during the shutdown sequence. It may also help to use Task
Manager to selectively kill unnecessary processes prior to attempting a
shutdown. The problem is that some bit of software is not responding to the
terminate signal properly, isolating it may lead to a resolution.
