shutdown

I just upgraded from 98 to 2000 pro. and when I shutdown
it does not actually shut down the computer it says it is
now safe to shutdown. My problem is my power button only
turns the computer on it does not shut if off so I have to
use the switch on the back of the power supply to shut off
the computer is there a work around for this or some
setting that I am just not seeing. Thanks

Did W98 shut down (turn off) the computer? If not, your motherboard may not
support software shutdown - older mobos usually don't.

Or else it's a BIOS issue - have you checked BIOS settings (and read up on
the settings for your machine, too)?

In any case, W2K will shutdown any computer that recognises its "turn
yourself off" signal.
