Shutdown windows 2000 server

I have windows 2000 server. When i want to shutdown my pc there is a problem.
If i follow the standard procedure (start menù -> end session -> shutdown
system) nothing occour. So the only way to shutdown the pc is with the button
for the start...I don't know what is the problem.

- Have you examined the logs recorded in the Event Viewer?
- What happens when you shut it down with shutdown.exe or
shutgui.exe. Both come with the Win2000 Resource Kit.
A similar tool is available from www.sysinternals.com.
