Hi

I have had a shutdown problem for a long time but I have put up with it
until now but my brand new 'emergency generator' can't shut down my system
either in an emergency.

The problem is that the first click on shutdown doesn't always seem to work.

Windows seems to shut down , there is 'flickering' on the screen etc but the
desktop wallpaper and icons stay and the system is accessible.

After reading up, I have configured Windows to give me a report and not to
reboot automatically in case of a problem (system + advanced + startup and
recuperation) but nothing gets written in %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP which
isn't even created, so I am at a loss.

When testing my new generator, it doesn't manage to shut down the system
either and I assume it is due to this.

Any advice please?

Thanks
