Shutdown / Powerdown problems

Whenn attempting to turn off my pc, I click on shutdown. Thereafter it says
saving your settings and then moves to the windows is shutting down screen
where it stays indefinitely. I actually have to hold down the power button to
turn off my PC.

Please advise?!?

Undo the system changes (tuning tools, installations) that you made
before this problem was showing up for the first time.
