shutdown and startup sounds are gone

I tried to fix this problem at
kellys xp site and went thru all the sites but
alas the startup sounds do not work.

I have changed themes and the same exists
no startup or shutdown sounds.

appreciate any help short of formatting
hard drive

Do you have tweakiu? If so
is beep on system errors unchecked?

go to your sounds inside control panel and scroll down
until you see both your windows start up and shutdown
lines. make sure there is a sound icon next to them if
not click on and hit browse and refind your sound or
better still browse for a better one
