how do I turn of the ping response on my computer so that
others can't ping my computer!?

thanks for eny response =)

Turn on XP's built-in firewall or install some other
firewall program that blocks incoming packets.

yes but shouldn't there be a way to do it without using
the built in firewall? or eny other software firewalls??

Using a firewall is the best way to block ICMP (ping) traffic.
