Shut down

As of last week I ran Win98, then I upgraded to XP Pro.
Under 98 when I shut down my system would complete the
shut down and power off on its own. Now, under XP, the
system sits at "It is now safe to..." and I have to turn
the computer off manually. While this isn't difficult I
have become used to being able to walk away after
clicking on shutdown.
How can I fix this?

Go to start/run and type in powercfg.cpl and hit ok.
Go to the APM tab and then check the APM box.
Click OK and then reboot.
