shut down problem

I am not able to shut down my laptop (using XP home)
unless I pull the ac cord and the battery. The computer
goes through the shut down okay and then starts to
reboot. It goes through the IBM Thinkpad logo and then
when the XP screen comes up it goes very dim. That is
when I have to pull all the power.
Henp!
Thanks

I would never "Abruptly" shut off a computer in the way
you describe.

99% of the time this can cause data corruption or registry
errors. At some point you will need to do a Chkdsk C: /R
so you can reset the "Volume Dirty" flag that is probably
set.

Your best option is to use System Restore and go back a
couple of days to when the problem did not occur. The
list of causes for this type of problem is pretty long and
complex to resolve manually. (Drivers, Program installs &
updates, etc..)
