Leroy the Badger

My PC stalls everytime I try to shut it down or restart
it. This problem has not always happened since I
installed XP. I've tried most of the suggestions in the
MS Knowledge base as well as those suggestions on the "XP
Shutdown Troubleshooter" website. XP is automatically
updated on my PC, so it is up to date. Help!?!

I was having that problem and had found something in the KB about the
possibility of a modem hanging up the shutdown. The modem in this machine
was not being used so I disabled it in the device manager and it took care
of the problem. If that turns out to be the problem and you need your modem
you'll have to ask one of these more knowledgeable folks for a work around.
I did look for a newer driver for mine and was unable to find one but maybe
you could find one for yours that would resolve the problem. Good luck,
Dave
