Shrunk HDD after reformating

I reformated the 80 GB HDD on my HP Pavilion to reinstall the operating
system. However, after reformating and reinstalling the system from the HP
system restore CDs, the drive shows as 30 GB. Checking the drive, it has a
4.4 and a 27 GB partition. How can I get it back to 80 GB?

If you formatted the drive in FAT32 in XP you are limited to a 32Gb
partition. You either have to boot with a Win98/ME floppy to format the
drive in FAT32 to the full 80Gb.

What version of Windows XP was put on the system (from scratch)?
(Windows XP what? Service Pack what?)

Is the drive formatted FAT32 or NTFS?
(My Computer, right-click on C:\ and choose "Properties".)

4.4GB? Is that the restoration partition of the C:\? If the C:\ - this
system either needs to be redone again (and either all of the 80GB used just
for C:\ or more than 20GB of it at least) or a third party product needs to
be used to expand that 4.4GB C:\ tom something much larger (after you figure
out you likely formatted with FAT32 and change it to NTFS.)

Could be the 'restore CDs' are just that old/not useful.
