Shrinking window problem

I'm stumped. Some website I visited recently caused my browser window to
shrink down to a 2x3 inch window and I can't figure out where to set it back
to normal(maximized). Sure I can maximize it each time but it's really
annoying. It only happens on new windows opened from links in already onpen
sites. My standard startup of IE from the desktop or quick launch bar opens
fine in maximized format but all subsequent windows opened from links come up
in a minimized window. I've searched the settings in IE 6.0 and looked
through the registry but can't figure it out. Appreciate any adise.

Hi,
Open a webpage. Stretch it out to fullsize. Don't use maximize.
Choose any link on that webpage and right-click> open in a new window.
Stretch that second window out to the desired size- don't use maximize.
Close the first IE window. Then close that second resized window.
