SHRINK PROGRAMS COLUMNS

When I click START>All Programs (in the XP format), four colums appear
showing all of the installed programs on my computer. The far right column is
only partially visible as are the names of the programs it contains.
QUESTION: Is there a way I can change the width of these columns to better
see the programs they contain without opting for the "Classic Start Menu"
option?

Not that I'm aware of. Change your display resolution to something higher,
if possible, and/or right-click on your start button, choose Explore (or
Explore all users, if you have admin rights), and when you get to the
programs menu, consolidate your folders (e.g., put all the Dell-installed
folders under a single parent folder called Dell, etc etc etc.). Personally,
it drives me nuts when I have more than one 'column' for all programs, but
then, I'm a crank.

Right click Start and select Properties | Advanced.
Click to check Scroll Programs. (You will have to scroll down to see it.)

Easier to do in classic mode.. double click My Computer.. go into 'Documents
and settings - All Users - Start Menu'.. make the window fit half of the
screen vertically.. now open another window using the same procedure..

Click on Programs, and from there, create folders,, eg Multimedia, Graphics,
Games etc and then move your links into the appropriate folder headings..
you open two windows so that you can see what you are dragging, and to
where..
