shrink mpg file

I have an ATI TV wonder pro video card and have captured the latest Boston -
New York baseball game to burn to DVD and send to my husband overseas. The
ATI mpg file is more then 11 GB - I can convert it to DVD using WINavi and
burn it to DVD - it will be about 5 DVD (4.7) disks. Is there a better way
to do this - is there a setting I can change in the ATI software so that the
file is smaller? It is saving as mpg. DVDshrink does not reconize the file
either as an mpg or a DVD. Any suggestions on the best way to save the
baseball games and football games so that I can send them would be
appreciated - they are not available and my husband is a big fan. Seems like
there should be an easier way then converting and then burning so many
disks. He can view them on a computer or DVD player when he gets them.
