I had to reinstalled Windows XP Home Ed. on my Dell laptop. I installed the
driver for the wireless card which is an Intel (R) Pro. I have a Qwest
Actiontec gateway/rounter. It says that I am connected but when I go to open
IE, it says I do not have an internet connection. I went and restarted the
host computer, then the router. I tried to disable and then enable the
connection. The signal shows excellent and 'manual' connection. Any
suggestions?

Try an ethernet rather than a wireless connection.to the router.

If you are using wireless encrytion (and you certain should), the
reinstallation wiped out the knowledge of the key on your laptop. You must
enter the correct key, and that can take several tries to get it right.

Subject to available ports on the router you can have an ethernet
connection between the router and each of any number of computers. My
router has two ports. Wanting to connect three computers I bought a
switch which increased the capacity to four.
