Showing the sum in the detail section of a report

I am an excel user and new to Access. I'm sure this is simple and I have
searched through existing posts but not seen the answer. All I am trying to
do is show a total in a report. There is a list about 12 numbers and I just
want to show the total (or sum) of these in the detail section of the report
- not the footer as some posts have indicated.

Yes there is only one group (or list of numbers) but I was hoping to show the
total about halfway down the page as this is where the group finishes not in
the footer area .

So, I have 2 questions:

1. What sum formula do I need to show the sum?
2. Where do I put this formula in the report design view?

Rgds.

The group footer imedately follows the group - not at the bottom of the page
as does page footer.

ok - that has partially answered the question. I am still not sure how to
actually make the sum appear in the report. I imagine I need to somewhere in
the design view insert some kind of sum formula. Excel is easy =sum(range).
What is the Access equivalent?
