show tasks on the calendar

I would like to see tasks on the calendar in both weekly and monthly view -it
gives you a sense of those "things to do" items that are coming up.
I tried it with due dates and start dates, clicked "show tasks without due
dates", clicked show all tasks, consulted Help and my copy of Outlook for
dummies. It seems so basic but I HAVN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO DO IT!!!
Related question -why is it that Microsoft software NEVER behaves as you
would reasonably expect? -e.g we all write "to do" type items in our paper
diarys for certain days -without a fixed time on that day...."Close the
deal"....."call Mum".....is it not reasonable to expect then that my task
list would be available in a Calendar view ????

If you need to see what you have to do each day, it's actually quite easy
in 1 day view - you can't do it for a whole week.

Set the TaskPad to Active Tasks for selected days.

Add the fields you need (right click the TaskPad header) for example Due
Date, Category and Complete.

Use Start Date to make the Task appear on the TaskPad as scheduled.

Due date is there to let you know when it must be finished, not started!

If you also want to see what's "coming up" have a look at the Tasks
folder in Timeline view. It's not going to show the Calendar at the same
time but is useful.

As far as I know you need a third party tool to achieve that, one
that
comes
to mind is Taskline http://www.taskline.com/

Hi Judy, thanks for the tip re tasks on the Calendar. I didn't mean to "cross
post" I thought my first post failed -so I wrote another one.
PS got a reply from Noel All -suggested Taskline as a product that can
support this activity -it looks very promising.
