Show report when there is no data

I have a sub report within a main report. When no data is returned from the
query, the sub report is not shown - I guess this is the default value.

I would like to see the outline, headings and fields of the sub report even
if there is no data returned from the query - is this possible? If so - how
do I switch it on?

As far as I know, it is not the default. Check your event procedures for the
report. There is an OnNoData event which undoubtedly has some code to stop
opening the report.
