"Show desktop" icon changes!

In my taskbar Quick Launch, usually the Show Desktop icon
looks like the new XP version. But sometimes it looks
like the old one in Win 98. I don't do anything to it to
make it do this! I WOULD change it if there was a way -
the XP one looks like Real Player to me. (IS there a
way?) But, why does it do this?

I can't answer why this icon should have a mind of its own on your OS, but
you can work around the problem if you want.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"-User-"\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch and look for "Show desktop". Right click and drag to
your desktop and select create shortcut.

The shortcut works fine and you can give it what icon you like by right
clicking it and selecting Properties/Change Icon.

Good luck,

Ed

Thank you very much! After I have the shortcut on the
desktop, and have the icon changed, do I then drag it
right into the Quick Launch bar? What do I do with the
Explorer Command Show Desktop one that's already sitting
there? That one doesn't show "Shortcut" Properties, it
looks like it's a direct Windows Explorer Command, I'd be
afraid to delete it or anything. Thanks!

It's only a shortcut, so just right-click and kiss it goodbye. It is a
200-pixel piece of junk, from what I can tell.

Ha Ha! Thanks all.
