show all characters in a cell

I have a spreadsheet in 2007. I used to be able to double click between the
rows to autoadjust the row show I could view all text in the cells. This is
not working in my spreadsheet. The only reason I can think of is that there
are too many characters, any ideas?
 
Is cell set to "wrap text"? If not, do so.

Are cells merged? Autofit won't work with merged cells.
