I have a 2 year old comcast broadband modem/router. Just noticed LAN1
blinking. I thought it was a stead light. Is this normal?

ahh... you don't know : - ) There is no manual available.

Google the name and model number.

Have you noticed a slow down in internet response?
Usually the lan connection should remain steady on, if intermittent
blinking, you are losing the sync signal, could be anything, noise on the
line, moisture in the connections, etc, call Comcast or whoever is your ISP.

Sort of expanding on that:

Depends on what "Lan1" means. If it's the DSL connection, it should be
on steady. Blinking means it's looking to sync up to the signal and not
working.

If it means a connected computer, that will blink when data passes.
Comms between the PC and router will keep those blinking at various
times, not usualy steady on or off. On my router, if it's on steady =
no data movement, blinking means data movement.

The blinking light is a sign of data transfer.

ahh... Because Comcast doesn't manufacture cable modems. Look at the
sticker to see the brand and model. Of course, if Comcast slapped on
their own sticker then you'll have to peel it away to see what was on
the original sticker or open it to look inside for identifying info.

Have you tried browsing to the internal web server in the cable modem to
see if its page(s) tell you brand and model? Try http://192.168.100.1/.
