Should I stop these services to help prevent infection? RPS, Netlogon, Network Security Service

I read in a posting that stopping the below services could help prevent
future virus/spyware infections (to a small degree).
Is this true?

And if these services were stopped, what harm might it couase Internet
browsing and other programs on a Windows machine?

****Services to STOP in XP to prevent infection?

Network Security Service
Workstation Netlogon Service
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper

Be careful what you stop. You can stop something's without any side effects,
but others you may not see the effects of it for a while. For example if you
stop Cryptographic Services and then later try to use Windows Update,
install DirectX, ect you will get errors that don't tell you it is because
this service is shut off. It is a good idea to write down what you are
disabling so if you have a problem in the future you know what to turn back
on to see if it is a disabled service that is the issue.
