Should I OR Shouldn't I

Good Evening to all. I have been tossing around the thought of whether or not
I should try and bump it up a notch to the 64 Bit. I had no problems with the
installs and upgrades to this point. I am currently running RC1 Build 5728
Ultimate Edition. My computer is a couple of years old. I have a Dell desktop
PC with 2.2 Gig processor, 1 gig of memory, a CD burner, amd a DVD burner. I
have 2 hard drives, an 80 and 160 gig. Vista is on the 80 and XP is on the
160. I am running roadrunner. I would like your thoughts on this please. the
DVD program in Vista won't work due to graphics not good enough. I might be
able to get my hands on a Nvidia GEForce MX420. Do you all think that it
might work? I will be on for a little while tonight. Will check out your
responses tomorrow night. Thank you in advance for your assistance and
thoughts, as usual.

Are you sure your machine is 64-bit? That age is borderline. 2.2Gig is
likely a 32bit processor.

Well I checked a little further and found out it is a 32 bit system. So I
guess I will stay right where I am at. Thank you.

Tom:
I should feel hurt buy your statement about 2.2Gig being most likely
32-bit but I won't. I use AMD chips on 4 computers and 1 laptop. They are
all 2.2Gig, only one is 32-bit, AMD3200+, the others are 64-bit, AMD FX51,
AMD 4400x2, AMD 4400x2 and Turion64. The slowest is the 32-bit 3200+ (I
haven't tried Vista on that one because it also has my DOS programs on it)
and the other 4 are running Windows x64 with partitions for Vista x86 and
x64. Have a great day, tomorrow may be better.

Just as well. I'm actually finding the 32-bit Vista to be more friendly
with my hardware than the 64-bit variety is anyway. The 64-bit version is a
little more rigid about signed drivers (which I think you can disable in
BCD). I also had trouble with audio popping with vista x64 that is not
present in the x86 variety.

Yes, but he said his machine was a Dell. 2 years ago Dell didn't offer
machines with AMD chips, so I knew it was Intel.
