I'm running Vista Ultimate and am generally satisfied with Vista. I'm a
developer/webpage designer/writer. I downloaded SP 1 today and Visual
Studio 2008-Professional.
I use DreamWeaver CS 3 and DreamWeaver 8, Word 2007 and the few tools, such
as Cute FTP.
I have to install VS 2008 Professional -- but I question if I should install
Vista SP 1. What all the pros and what are the cons?
Thanks!
Ross
The pros are that it improves Vista. The cons are that the installation
doesn't always go smoothly.
If you are in the habit of making backup images, it may not be a bad idea
before installing SP1. When you are sure that it is in place and everything
is ok, then install VS 2008.
A quick note. SP1 backs up quite a few files. If the installation of SP1 is
ok and you don't see yourself uninstalling it, there is a small file called
'Vsp1cln.exe' included in SP1 which can be manually run. Do an advanced
search for the file, remembering to check the box to include non-indexed and
hidden files. When found, double click on it and a small 'command' window
will appear. It will ask you if you want to continue, and will warn you that
SP1 will be a permanent fixture if you answer 'Y'.
