About a year ago I was using WinME and decided to
go to Win2000 Proff.
What I did was to install 2000 over ME
This seemed to work although I had a few files left over
from ME ( System Restore...etc )

I want to know if I should format C and
do a clean install of Win2000.
I know "if it works don't fix it"

I am the only user of this PC and I
am not on a network.

There is no supported upgrade path from WinME to Windows 2000; if that
helps.

I'll second Dave's comment, W2K isn't equipped to "upgrade" from WinME since
the former is the older OS. So yes, you should back up relevent data and
format.
