Should I do a Clean XP Install?

Since crashing some days ago I have restored WIN XP with factory settings on
the Application Support Disc. My pc is very slow to process and to access web
sites is one page open at a time, and to work with some applications hanging
up. Not to mention before crashing the only things to get my attention was,
(1)i deleted QuickTime (2)a new Network Connection was added to server called
Teredo(udp) (3)was getting same files to delete from Spybot (4) Tried to do a
SYSTEM RESTORE from computer settings and would not accept any of them before
it completely crashed. Also I did the nono of not Backing up my SP2. I am
still horrified at doing so. Alas, am trying all over again. My question,
should I do another WindowsXP and use the Clean WinXP Install listed on some
web sites? Everything seems not running correctly. Any suggestions on what to
check or do is appreciated, please...I have one other cd called Operating
System Installation CD,software included on this Recovery CDROM was
preinstalled at factory and may only be used for backup. The Tech Support
for my pc said to only use the Application&Support Disc to reinstall. Why is
the install not a good one as I am having all these problems.

Most OEM suppliers will provide a 'System Restore CD set' which will reinmage
your hard drive to 'factory fresh' state.

This will generally wipe out everything on your drive and make a nice 'new'
environment.

This is what your tech support guy was telling you to do.

If you didn;t get to this, then call up the manufacturer and ask how to do
this: better still read all about it in your user guide.

if you are fine with all your old files that will be lost, I say go ahead and
do a clean install. ofcourse xp will ask you if that is what you wanted to do
before it proceeds. and remember you may have to reinstall all your other
programs and lost files if you still have them handy. That exactly what i
just did on mine. My pc is running fine now. Goodluck

Get another hardrive or put your valuable data on a seperate hardrive
from the Operating system's or CD burner and some blanks, Just back up
your data, get a bootable winXP disk and format and partition your
hardrive a fresh. Your system seems really buggy and a fresh reinstall
would be the bes thing to do.
If you dont want to do that then try downloading registry mechanic 3 or
later and run a full scan on your PC
