Shortening the "All Programs" button?

Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to shorten the "All Programs
button in the Start Menu into just a simple arrow or other icon. I us
the Fresco White (Compact) skin with Windows XP, and I've modified m
current Start Menu to look like 'this
(http://arkarian.spjclan.com/Start Menu.PNG). I basically want jus
that green arrow to appear under the Run icon if that's at all possibl
(I have the feeling it's not, though), so that my Start Menu isn't s
wide. Moving "Shut Down" to beneath "Log Off" would be great, too

In previous versions, it was a lot easier to customize Windows. A lot of things became difficult in XP. Fortunately, nothing is
impossible. I don't know of an official or easy way to do what you want, but if it's absolutely necessary, you could probably
accomplish it by hacking Windows (binary modification of system files.)

Is there a .msstyles file associated with this skin?

If so, you could use a resource hacker. Within a .msstyles file, you find several .ini files, one
for each textsize.

In that file there're be a section that looks like this:

[StartPanel.MorePrograms]
DefaultPaneSize = 0, 0, 190, 30
TextColor = 175 168 244
HotTracking = 48 112 208
Font = Tahoma, 10, Bold
BgType = ImageFile
SizingType = Stretch
SizingMargins = 3, 0, 0, 1
ContentMargins = 8, 8, 0, 6
ImageFile = Blue\StartPanelMoreProgBackGround.BMP
Imagecount = 1
SizingType = Stretch

Modifying ContentMargins as discussed here:

http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t425759-300.html

will shift the text out of view. You would probably want to modify the DefaultPaneSize value as
well, looks the 3rd value is the width.

You would probably need to modify the pane size under [StartPanel.PlacesList] as well.

Good idea. It's a hack but it could work. :)
