I have created shortcuts to documents and when I click on
them it takes up to 23 seconds for the file to open. All
applictions open instantly, I have a Dem 8300 with a
bunch of power so I know that's not it. Can anybody tell
me why my shortcuts take so long to bring up the file

Right-click on the shortcut and choose "properties". Look at the details
of the shortcut. For instance, is the target file correct?
