Shortcuts to Compose Mail?

Z

Zachary D'Nath

Long ago in an earlier version of Outlook, I was able to
put a link in the Quick Launch Bar that would open a
Compose Mail window. I really liked having Outlook opened
but minimized while working on other things, and then
clicking that link to compose a quick e-mail message to
someone about something I was working on.

Now, unfortunately, to get a compose mail window I have to
open Outlook 2003 from the systray, then click the Compose
Mail buttonbar button, which takes longer and is annoying
in the number of steps needed.

Does anyone know if I can link to the Compose Mail funtion
of Outlook 2003 from the Quick Launch bar, or the desktop?

Thanks,
Z

Create a shortcut.

In the box for the location of the shortcut type

mailto:

then click ok

You will now have a link that will open up a new blank email for you to fill
in and send.

Thanks for the idea NikNik, and, it sort of works. That
tactic causes my browser to open a blank window, in
addition to a compose mail window. There used to be this
function in earlier Outlooks, and I suspect it is still
there somewhere. Anyone else have any ideas?
