Shortcuts on Desktop for specific user accts in XP

After installing an application in XP, shortcuts for the
app show up in all user accounts. If I then delete the
shortcut from other users desktops who I don't want to
have access to the app, the shortcut also disappears on
my desktop. Is there a way to have a shortcut to an app
on the desktop for only certain user accts in XP?

Thanks

sure just make a copy of the shortcut and paste it on the
desktops that u want it to be on. then delete the orignal
one. :)

Your problem is that the Icon is put in the "All Users" desktop usually
located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

Put the Icon here:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Desktop

The desktop and the start menu draw their items from two sources:
Documents and Settings\All Users\..
Documents and Settings\<specific user>\...

What is in the All Users' desktop and start menu folders, will appear
for all users. Items in the user's own folders will only appear on their
desktop.

Fine tune the desktop/start menus by copying shortcuts to the
appropriate user folders. Delete the original item from the All Users
folder when done.
